Vallecular Cholesterol Granuloma: Case Report

Introduction. Cholesterol granuloma is a rare benign cystic neoplasm characterised by fibrous capsule, and fluid containing cholesterol crystals, multinucleated giant cells, erythrocytes haemosiderin. granulomas are usually found in diverse parts of the temporal bone, most commonly – petrous apex. Very few cases other organs have been reported, to our knowledge none reported larynx. The main purpose this case report highlight extremely laryngeal lesion its unique macroscopic appearance. Case report. A 55-year-old man referred Ear, Nose Throat Centre because persistent hoarseness, globus sensation complicated intubation due mass Videolaryngoscopy showed large cyst-like vallecula, epiglottis was displaced towards posterior pharyngeal wall erythema interarytenoid notch arytenoid tubercle present. computerized tomography scan confirmed on lingual surface epiglottis. On basis examination clinical symptoms, diagnosis chronic laryngitis, gastro-oesophageal reflux an unspecified tumour respiratory system made, surgical treatment planned. patient underwent microlaryngoscopy extirpation cyst using CO2 laser, as opened yellowish, shiny, viscous observed. Two days later, laryngoscopy revealed fibrin plaque at site cyst. Final formed based histological mass. Conclusions. masses vallecula extremly rare, but shows that can be included differential neoplasms
